Welcome to Loggia Psychotherapy!
An Austin-based, virtual private practice owned & operated by Marilyn “Katie” Mozier, LPC, NCC
I’m glad you’ve found me.
Searching for a therapist can be a daunting experience, and I hope the information provided here can assist you in seeing if we would be a good fit to work together.
My substantial experience with trauma, grief and loss in my own life informs my desire to be in connection with people at their most human.
I graduated from Tulane University in 2010 with a B.S. in Psychology, where I had the opportunity to do research in a stress and trauma lab after Hurricane Katrina. As a New Orleans native, I allowed the humbling experience of collective trauma and loss to inform my later decision to become a professional counselor. My interest in trauma and grief led me to pursue my Master’s in Professional Counseling from Texas State University, where I continued to participate in research on Child-Centered Play Therapy.
I have served as a support group facilitator and group coordinator for Austin Center for Grief and Loss, in addition to the Christi Center, another local bereavement-focused non-profit. There, I saw children and teens individually, as well as provided support group facilitation for families. I have supported children and teens experiencing grief as a volunteer counselor for Camp Brave Heart, hosted by Hospice Austin.
Counseling is a second career to me, after spending a decade working in the service industry in bars and restaurants, where I honed my people skills, connecting with folks carrying their own trauma, substance abuse, grief, anxiety, and identity struggles.
I am a forever seeker, and have been a therapy client for most of my life. I have walked these hallways just as you are. I am a person who has worked toward earned security, healing from trauma and grief, and a life that integrates all parts of my experiences. I hope not simply to share wisdom from experience and education, but to show you what it is like to be fully seen, understood, and cared for as the incredible and imperfect people we all are.
When I am not engaging in therapeutic work, I love to learn about history, art, science and music, share a good conversation and a meal with my friends, dig through thrift stores for treasure, and spend time laughing with my partner and our giant dog, Frankie.
